James L. Koutoulas, Esq. is the CEO of Typhon Capital Management which he founded in 2008. Typhon is a multi-strategy trading firm, where emerging managers are able to focus solely on their trading as part of Typhon’s umbrella of unified operations, compliance, and risk management. Clients can access these modular exposures a la carte or via custom portfolios on Typhon’s Argos Alternative Funds Cayman or U.S. fund platforms, or via separately managed accounts.

Typhon's products include: The Award-Winning Vulcan Metals Fund,Leonidas Cryptocurrency Fund, Mercurio Quantitative Program, and Proteus Dynamic Volatility Program.

Mr. Koutoulas is also a leader in investor protection. He Co-Founded the Commodity Customer Coalition, a non-profit customer advocacy organization, in response to the MF Global bankruptcy. Mr. Koutoulas is the President and lead attorney for the CCC and represented over 10,000 MF Global customers pro bono in the bankruptcy and securing the full return of $6.7B in customer assets. He then served on the Board of Directors of the National Futures Association for three years,including two years on its Executive Committee.

Mr. Koutoulas has appeared on CNBC, Bloomberg, and CNN, as well as being featured in major national print publications such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Fortune, Forbes, and Reuters. Mr. Koutoulas testified on improving customer protections before the United States House of Representatives'Agriculture Committee.

Mr. Koutoulas earned a J.D. from the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, which presented him its 2016 Emerging Leader Award. He is also a member of the Illinois Bar. He serves as a consulting expert to the Northwestern Investor Protection Clinic and is a member of its Advisory Board. Mr. Koutoulas has a degree in Finance from the University of Florida, where he was a National Merit Scholar, AP National Scholar, and Angelo Langadas Classics Scholar.

Mr. Koutoulas was named one of “Crypto’stop 30 Rockstars on Wall Street” by Business Insider. He is also a Board Member and Head of the Governance Committee of the Goodman Institute, a healthcare and tax policy think tank that created Health Savings Accounts and contributed to the creation of Roth IRAs and the Tax Cut and Jobs Act. Mr. Koutoulas also serves on the Advisory Board of Music Traveler which allows professional musicians to book practice space while traveling and counts Billy Joel, John Malkovich, and Hans Zimmer as Ambassadors.
